Do you ever find a certain recipe, become obsessed, and keep making it over and over until you get sick of it? That’s how my husband and I are with these. So. Good. Life-changing good. Trust me, you will not be disappointed.
Peaches are kind of an obsession of mine. They’re my favorite fruit, and I love everything about them: the taste, the name, the color … I’m in love. So you can imagine my excitement when I went to go grocery shopping this past Saturday and saw a huge case of fresh Georgia peaches right in the front of the store!
I immediately bought a bag, though I wasn’t sure what I’d do with them, but as they say, necessity is the mother of invention! I had a taste for something a little sweet, but as you know, sugar really isn’t my thing … and the idea just struck me: broiled peaches.
The first batch I whipped up was just a peach sprinkled with a bit of cinnamon and a tiny slab of butter, then broiled and topped with a bit of minimal-sugar-added, homemade whipped cream (alright, I’ll admit, the picture up top is of the first batch. But the actual cheesecake peaches are just as pretty). Oh. My. Goodness. It was amazing, but I knew it could be better (plus I wanted to cut out that whipped cream). Ding. Lightbulb moment again: cheesecake peaches.
Who doesn’t love cheesecake?
So I got busy in my little kitchen and cranked out another batch. Stephen got to be my taste tester (he decided to try and wrestle a tree while mountain biking the day before, so we were both home from work after a little trip to the hospital) and he heartily gave his approval.
This is perfect for a sweet little something after dinner or even after a workout. Be advised, though; don’t get all excited that this is healthy and overdo it. There are about 13 grams of sugar in a peach. Remember, though, that 4.2 grams is a teaspoon, so there are about 3 teaspoons of sugar in a peach. Our bodies are designed to process 5-9 teaspoons of sugar per day, so especially if you’re already cutting sugar out of your diet, peaches are nothing to be concerned about. If anything, the fiber (2 grams on average! Woohoo!) will fill you up so you can’t overdo it, but make sure to listen to your body. You’ll know when you’ve had enough.
And now …

Drumroll, please …
- 1 peach, halved, with the pit scooped out
- (2) 1/2 tablespoon slabs of butter
- Cinnamon
- 4 tablespoons full-fat cream cheese
- 1 pinch stevia, or to taste
- 4-5 drops vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon full-fat sour cream
- Turn your oven broiler on low and let it heat up.
- Line a cookie sheet with foil, pinching up the sides to make a "tray".
- Place the peaches cut side-up on the foil, sprinkle them with cinnamon, and place a slab of butter on each.
- Broil the peaches for 5 minutes on low. In the meantime, mix the cream cheese, stevia, vanilla, and sour cream in a small bowl, whipping with a mixer if desired.
- Spoon half the cream cheese mixture into the center of each peach.
- Broil on low for 3 minutes.
- Broil on high for 2 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and enjoy!
- If you can, try to find freestone peaches. They separate from their pits very easily, whereas cling peaches will fight you. You might end up ripping them apart (which I definitely did).

This is also the final product when actually making the cheesecake.

Yum.
